Tips for Staying Healthy on Your RV Road Trip

If there’s one thing the recent coronavirus has done, it’s been making all of us more aware of public health and hygiene — as well as just how many times we touch our faces. Because most of the worst outbreaks have been in urban centers, this coronavirus may have been what finally prompted you to have fun away from crowded areas via an RV road trip. However, while hitting the road is certainly one creative way of avoiding major crowds, it’s still important to keep healthy habits in mind. The following is a look at a few of our favorite RV road trip health tips:

3 Tips for Staying Healthy on Your RV Road Trip

  1. Make frequent get-up-and-walk stops. When you’re on a long RV road trip, it’s important to take breaks, stretch, and get moving. Even just fifteen minutes moving for every two hours driving will go a long way in keeping your body healthy and preventing negative physiological responses that can occur when a person sits too long.
  2. Stay hydrated. Dehydration is extremely common here in Arizona, thanks to our surrounding arid environment. Dehydration can cause an array of issues ranging from headaches and irritability to fever and an increased risk of disease. It’s easy to become dehydrated when you’re on a road trip because you might have a busy schedule or your routine might be shaken up and you don’t find yourself making as many trips to the water faucet as you usually do. Whenever you’re hiking, biking, or otherwise being active, always bring an extra water bottle and practice drinking at least one full glass of water when you wake up, at lunch, and before bed.
  3. Keep your galley and hands washed and clean. The constraints of an RV galley and RV sink can make keeping up with dishes frustrating, but it’s incredibly important to stay on top of good kitchen hygiene when RVing. Try and keep a separate cutting board or prep area for raw meat and for fruits and vegetables. Also, always end a countertop and dinette cleaning with sanitizing wipes to really nix lingering germs.
